Prayer Opportunities:
“I promise to uphold
this congregation of the United Methodist Church by my prayers, my presence,
my gifts, my service, and my witness.” Service of Reception of New Members, United
Methodist Church.
West Market Street United Methodist Church
offers a variety of prayer ministries, some of which are ongoing, while
others are event-specific. We hope you will keep your promise to the Church
by participating in these meaningful prayer opportunities. New participants
are always welcome.
-
LAITY IN PRAYER—The purpose of
this group is to pray specifically for West Market Street United
Methodist Church—clergy, staff, music and youth programs, congregation,
visitors, and small groups—prior to the beginning of the 8:30 a.m.
worship service. This group meets in room 319 at 8:00 a.m. for
approximately 20 minutes. Contact Til Tillery (288-4663 or

more information.
- PARTNERS IN PRAYER—The purpose of
this confidential intercessory prayer group is to pray for specific
members of the West Market Street United Methodist Church faith
community as they experience birth, illness, and death, as well as any
other concerns, including those listed on prayer cards completed during
worship services. A confidential e-mail of praises and concerns from
each meeting is sent to additional members who cannot attend prayer
sessions at the church. Partners in Prayer meets on the first and third
Monday evenings of each month at 7:00 p.m. for approximately one hour in
the church library. Patty Cox (288-1749 or
pat.cox@convatec.com) leads this group.
- UNITED METHODIST WOMEN’S PRAYER SHAWL
KNITTING MINISTRY—Members of this ministry pray during the knitting
process, meet monthly to knit, pray over each individual shawl,
baptismal blanket, and child’s prayer blanket which are passed around
the group, and participate in the blessing of each completed item by one
of our pastors. Groups meet on the third Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m.
until approximately 11:30 a.m. in room 302-D and on the fourth Thursday
evening at 7:00 p.m. until approximately 8:30 p.m. at the home of Sarah
Hester. Contact Sarah Hester (288-7823
